Browser Extension/App Issues

Another common issue for bidders attempting to login to the site and being unable to do so is because they have a particular type of browser extension/app set up that blocks certain components from being shown.

The online bidding site uses a security feature called ALTCHA that helps to verify that the person logging into the bidder account is NOT a bot attempting to hack the account. This is a common feature across internet sites with individual accounts. Is it shown below (the I'm not a robot box).

Some users however may have particular browser extensions that work to block these particular security features. If a user comes to the online bidding page and the site detects that they have 1 of these extensions on their browser blocking it, they will be shown the following message:

If you encounter the above message, please follow the steps below based on your browser to ensure you disable the extension.

Google Chrome Extensions:

In order to disable the extension, click on the puzzle piece in the upper right hand corner of the browser header and then click on manage extensions.

This will bring up all of the extensions that are installed on your browser. Find the 1 that has to do with blocking network requests and click the enable/disable toggle to turn it off.

Once disabled, exit off of that tab and then refresh the login screen to get the ALTCHA box to populate.

Begin the login/registration process.

Safari Extensions/Apps:

In order to disable the extension, click on the Safari menu in the upper left hand corner of the browser header and then click on Safari extensions.

Click on your profile (the bottom option over to the left) and the list of the extensions and apps that you have installed on your device will be shown.

Find the app that is blocking the ALTCHA. This is usually a a privacy app or an Ad Blocker. You can either delete the app entirely off of your computer by clicking the 3 dots next to the app's open button (which will permanently fix the issue) but will remove the app permanently from your device.

Your other option is to open up the App and make sure to add the URL for the auction house's online bidding page (in this case testing.nextlot.bid) as an exemption to the rules of the extension. Each App/extension will have differing steps on how to accomplish this.

If you are on Safari and try to access a page whose content is blocked by your Extension/App, Safari will recognize it and you can click to allow it manually that 1 time by clicking "Reload Without Content Blockers"

The downside to this is that you will have to do this every time you come to the page. Creating an exemption for it or simply removing the app is the permanent solution.

FireFox Extensions/Apps

In order to disable the extension, click on the puzzle piece in the upper right hand corner of the browser header and then click on manage extensions.

Then click on Extensions in the left menu bar and then in your list of enabled extensions, turn off the one that is a content blocker by toggling off the radio button.
